Wellbeing at St Andrew’s

‘From arrival onwards, you know that this is a church school – totally motivated and living by its Christian values. Warm and welcoming, it is a family – embracing all and with children at its heart. Watching over one another in love is the unforced, strikingly normal, spontaneous and yet intentional culture of the school.’ Rosemary Woodall, Diocesan Education Consultant, Diocese of St. Albans.

‘Pupils are proud of their school. It is a safe, happy place where they play an active role in
helping to make their school even better. The school environment is inclusive and friendly.
Pupils from all communities feel welcome here.’ OFSTED

St Andrew’s is awarded the Mental Health Award for Primary Schools – 2025!

We were thrilled to recently receive the Healthy Minds Mental Health Award for Primary Schools after submitting over 120 pieces of evidence! This is testament to the love and care that we show for one another at St Andrew’s and can be seen in every interraction between staff, children and our families.

Our assessor wrote: ‘Your heartfelt and inspiring submissions, clearly demonstrate a deep-rooted, whole-school commitment to mental health and wellbeing. What stands out most is the strength of your school’s ethos – anchored in love, care, and inclusion – and how genuinely these values are lived out day to day by staff, pupils, and the wider community. The quote from Rosemary Woodall beautifully captures the culture you’ve nurtured at St Andrew’s, where “watching over one another in love” isn’t just a phrase – it’s a way of being.

The evidence you’ve shared throughout this award process reinforces how embedded wellbeing is within your leadership, policy, curriculum, and relationships. Your proactive support for vulnerable children, continuous reflection, and desire to keep improving show that this is not a tick-box exercise, but a long-term commitment that truly benefits every member of your community.

Your school is more than deserving of this award – not only for what you’ve achieved, but for how you’ve achieved it: with warmth, integrity, and a focus on lasting impact.

Congratulations to the whole team – you’ve created something very special at St Andrew’s.’
